.On 2nd March, 2024, an annual sports meet was held at Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara.
The cheif guest of this annual fair was College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal. She was welcomed by the
organizing team by presenting a planter . After the flag hoisting ceremony by the chief guest, the sports
fair was formally inaugurated by cutting the ribbon. Madam Principal also took the salute at the march
passed by NCC cadets and NSS volunteers.
On this occasion, a number of games were organised for the students which included skipping race,
matka race, sack race, relay race, brick race, lemon spoon race, 50 meter race and tug of war. Other
than this, games like musical chair, brisk walking and 50 meter race were organized for the college staff
members which became the center of special attraction. To make the day more enjoyable and
memorable, folk songs and choreography were also presented by the students .
In skipping race, Nipu Kumari, Priya Kumari and Navneet Kaur; in 50 meter race Anuradha, Pooja, Saloni and Manjot and in lemon race Nikita, Khushi and Anisha got first , second and third prize. In Matka race Varsha, Khushi and Guddi secured first, second and third position. Other than this, in brick race, Nikita and kajal, and in relay race, the teams of Anuradha, Radhika, and Anjali secured first , second, and third position respectively. In the 50 meter race organized for the staff members(female), Madam Swati, Madam Shivani, and Madam Malika,(Male) Mr. Harvinder Chauhan, Mr. Rajiv Kumar, and Mr. Kamal Kaushal , and (non teaching)Mr. Pankaj Joshi, Mr. Puti lal, and Mr. Sukhbir bagged first , second and
third position. In brisk race competition, (Teaching Female)Ms.Nidhi Jassal, Ms. Isha Chhabra, and Ms.
Priyanka, (Non teaching) Mrs. Rani, Mrs. Tripta and Mrs. Usha whereas In Musical Chair ,Madam
Manvinder, Mrs. Inderpreet and Madam Swati got first, second and third place respectively.
Around 263 students participated in these games. Mr. Kamal Kaushal and Madam Priya Bains well
played the role of stage secretary. Special arrangements were made for food and drinks for the students and staff members on this occasion.
Principal, Dr Savinder Pal, congratulated all the winners and participating students and said that sports plays an important role in our healthy and happy life. It refreshes our body and gives peace to our mind, so it is very important to make sports a part of life. She also congratulated and thanked Dr. Rinka, Mr. Harvinder Chauhan ,Ms.Sunita, Ms. Isha, and Ms. Priya , members of the organizing team for the
successful organisation of this event .
