An Extension Lecture on Botany and Environmental Science was organized by the Department of Science of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara. Prof. Avinash Nagpal, Director Human Resource Development, Academic Staff College and senior most professor, Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Assistant Professor of the same department delivered the lecture on the occasion. Prof. Nagpal spoke on ‘Digitalization databases of trees and shrubs’ and talked about the digitalization of all plants of the botanical garden of GNDU campus and addressed the students about various links established online to avail the same. Dr. Kaur delivered her talk on ‘Toxic Effects of heavy metals’; and talked about the various heavy metals present in water, soil and air samples of Amritsar and various methods to detect them. Principal of the college, Dr. Kiran Walia welcomed both the speakers on the occasion. Dr. Bina Sood, HOD department of science and all faculty members were present on the occasion.
