Annual prize distribution held at KNCW
The Annual Prize Distribution Function for the session 2016-17 was organized at Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara on Saturday. At the event, the college achievers in various academic and non academic fields were honoured by the college.Ms. Sarojini Gautam Sharda, retired PCS officer from Jalandhar was the chief
guest on the occasion. Members of Management Committee Dr. Harivansh Mehta, Ms. Kusum Verma, Mr. Shashi Aggarwal and Ms. Poonam Puri were also present at the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sharda advised that motto of education is to move above self interest and be responsible for ourselves, our family and our society.She further said that although it is a positive change that we are all fighting for our rights but she added that we should not forget our duties. She further advised the girls to be self dependent and give time for social welfare and upliftment of the society.
During the event, the students who stood first and second in Mid semester examinations an add on courses; winners in various competitions; winners on test on Moral Values; sports persons of the college who won various competitions in the events of Wushu, Boxing and Taekwondo, editor of college magazine ‘Aastha’ were awarded by the guests.Besides, Manjot Longia was given a special award and a sum of Rs. 2100; TC Tulsi Award for outstanding performance in Hindi was given to Pallavi Sharma with a sum of Rs. 1000; Major Ashok Kumar award was given to NCC cadet Gurpreet Kaur with a sum of Rs. 1100; Best NSS volunteer was given to Amritpal Kaur;
Maximum use of library was given to Priya Singh Rathore; Best Student (PG) was given to Amritpal Kaur while Seema Ghai memorial award to best student for overall performance was given to Priya Singh Rathore with a sum of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 1000 for purchasing books. Besides Head Girl Priyanka Walia, Vice Head Girl Priya Bains and CA members were also awarded.Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Walia thanked the
guests for giving their valuable time. She also congratulated all the winners and wished them all success in future.
