To commemorate the birth anniversary of Shahid Bhagat Singh Department of History, Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara organised the release of the book title ‘Azadi De Dharu Tare’. Dr. Jagmohan Singh, Chairperson, Shahid Bhagat Singh Foundation and Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar, Vice Chancellor, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University were the Chief Guest. Dr. Savinder Pal, college principal presented a floral welcome to the dignitaries. She highlighted the role of gadarites and companions of Shahid Bhagat Singh in the freedom struggle. Dr. Jagmohan Singh discussed about the companions of Bhagat Singh and how Kartar Singh Sarabha influenced the life of Bhagat Singh. He also addressed the students about the social milieu and environment at the times of Bhagat Singh’s youth which motivated him to take up the path of freedom struggle. Dr. Dharamjit Singh talked about the life and history of Bhagat Singh where he emphasized the importance of books and literature in his life and upbringing. This event was attended by over 80 students of the college. the event ended on a cheerful note with a formal vote of thanks from Madam Kamlesh.
