Kamla Nehru college for women, Phagwara organised NSS Special Camp on the theme Educated Youth and Holistic Development
Under the able guidance of College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal, NSS Unit of Kamla Nehru College for
Women, Phagwara organised a 7-day NSS special camp from December 24 -12-2023 to 30-12-2023. The
camp began with an assembly by the college students. The camp was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr.
Savinder Pal, the College Principal and Special guest cum Resource Person Dr.Amarjeet Singh, Professor
at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(GADVASU) Ludhiana. Ms. Nidhi jassal and Dr. Lalit kumar , programme officers, extended a floral welcome to the chief guest and the special guest.
The day commenced with a Shabad by Dr. Lalit Kumar to seek blessings from God . The NSS Volunteers also sang the NSS Song while Ms. Nidhi Jassal gave a welcome speech in which she explained the history of NSS and made the Volunteers aware about the motive of its launch. PPT were shown to the
Volunteers on the previous NSS camp activities. They were encouraged to surrender themselves for the
upliftment of the society. Dr Savinder Pal, the college principal exhorted the students to take part in this
camp enthusiastically as it helps them to build self-confidence, leadership skills and voluntary spirit for
community service. Special guest ,Dr. Amarjeet Singh also interacted with the students and enlightened
the Volunteers about the theme of the camp as education is an everlasting process which continues
forever. He also talked about the importance of holistic development and how education promotes it.
He made the Volunteers well acquainted with the Logo of NSS which is based on the giant ‘Rath Wheel’
of the Konark Sun Temple situated in Orissa. The students felt very motivated by the special guest and
promised to surrender themselves for upliftment of the society. Apart from this various committees
were also formed.Various activities were performed on the first day of the camp including pot planting
and tree painting.A Sapling was planted by the Cheif guest and special guest.The zealous spirit of
volunteers for cleanliness was vividly shown while they were cleaning the stadium of the college. After
lunch, volunteers resumed their activities.The first day was full of fun and frolic as the Volunteers played
recreational games and displayed ample enthusiasm to participate in all the activities. College Principal
Dr Savinder Pal appreciated the joint efforts put in by the NSS volunteers and Programme officers Ms.
Nidhi Jassal and Dr. Lalit Kumar .
