Educational visit to Waste Processing Plant
Under Swachhta Hi Sewa 2024 (Swachh Bharat Mission), on 23rd September, the Department of Science
and ECO Club of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara had the pleasure of visiting the Waste
Processing Plant, Hadiabad under the guidance of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal. The teachers of the
Department of Science, Dr. Tavisha Singh, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Swapnil Singh, Assistant
Professor in Botany, had visited the students at the processing unit. This visit was both educational and
inspiring, highlighting our institution’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The visit began with a warm welcome from SI Namdev and Jatinder Vij, IEC and CB Expert Pooja, and CF
Asha Rani and Sunita who provided us with a comprehensive overview of the composting process. We
were guided through the different stages of compost production, from the initial collection of organic
waste to the final maturation of nutrient-rich compost. It was enlightening to see firsthand how
everyday waste materials are transformed into valuable resources that can enhance our soil and support
our garden projects. The compost unit not only serves as a practical solution for waste reduction but
also as a vital educational tool for our students. The hands-on experience provided valuable insights into
sustainable practices and underscored the importance of environmental responsibility.
Principal Dr. Savinder Pal appreciated the worthwhile efforts put in by Department of Science and ECO
Club for successfully encouraging the students for such educational visit.
