Third Day of special NSS Camp
The third day, i.e., 14th December, 2024, of the seven-day NSS camp commenced with the worshipping of God. The volunteers paid a visit to Chak Hakim, the adopted village of the NSS unit of the college, along with NSS Programme Officers, Ms. Nidhi Jassal and Dr. Lalit Kumar. The volunteers visited Government Primary School and BR Ambedkar Community Centre, Chak Hakim. With the support of village Sarpanch ,Baran Banger, volunteers interacted with the people of the village and told them about the importance of water conservation and motivated them to conserve water as it is a step towards protecting the environment. NSS Volunteers and Programme Officer ,Ms. Nidhi Jassal interacted with the village women and educated them about personal hygiene. They also communicated with the youth of the village and made them aware about the ‘My Bharat ‘ portal benefits. A cleanliness drive of the village streets and BR Ambedkar Community Centre was also carried out by the volunteers. With an objective of creating awareness among the masses on the importance of clean surroundings and water conservation, a rally was taken out by the volunteers. They educated the villagers about the ways in which we can contribute to the conservation of water, as it is a limited resource that is also expensive. The volunteers also interacted with Anganwadi Teacher and Child Development Project Officer, Mrs. Bimla Devi. She encouraged the volunteers for their zealous spirit of community service and gave them eatables. After Mrs. Bimla Devi, the volunteers interacted with Leela Ram, a panch member who told the volunteers about the problems faced by the villagers. After returning back to the college, NSS volunteers cleaned the Heritage Centre and Botanical Garden of the College. They also painted the walls and pots of the Botanical Garden. The third of the camp ended on a note of fun and frolic as the students played games.
