Hindi Divas celebrated at KNCW

Kamla Nehru College For Women, Phagwara celebrated the glory of Hindi, our national language as it celebrated Hindi Divas at college premises on Wednesday. The event was organized by PG department of Hindi of the college.Geeta Dogra, a noted writer and journalist was the chairperson while Dr. Sarla Bharadwaj, poetess and educator, Dr. Ramesh Sobti, an eminent writer and Dr. Jawahar Dheer, a doctor by profession and writer by passion were the guest of honour who graced the occasion.Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Walia, who herself is a famous writer, welcomed the  guests. Addressing the students of the college, the guests talked about the importance of celebrating Hindi Divas and motivated them to stick to their roots and culture. All the esteemed guests also recited their poetical works for the students.

To mark the occasion, various competitions of Paragraph Writing, Essay Writing, Poetry Recitation, Chart Making and News Reading competitions were organized. In paragraph writing Anisha stood first, Aarti remained second while Anu Kumari remained third. In +1 Paragraph Writing Kashish stood first. In +2 Essay Writing Diksha stood first. In Essay Writing (BA level) Rahima stood first, Meetu stood second and Sonia Verma stood third. In Poetry recitation Anisha stood first while Diksha stood second. In news reading Jyoti stood first, Lori stood second and Lovika stood third. In chart making Sunita and Manisha stood first, Anuradha, Monika and Maneka stood second and Nitisha, Namrata and Pooja remained third. The event was organised under the guidance of faculty members Dr. Asha Sharma, Dr. Preet Arora and Samita.
