Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, International Mother Language Day was celebrated by Punjabi Department, Music Department, and Fine Arts Department of Kamla Nehru College for Women. Various activities were organized on this occasion. In the poetry poster competition, Rihana BA part 2 won first position and Manmeet and Gurassis +1 won the second and third position respectively. In the 35 letter competition, Gurassis and Gurbakhsh got  first position whereas Harleen B.A part 3 and Maninder B.A part 1 got  second and third position respectively. Similarly, In  poetry recitation competition, Dikshaand Vini Bangar B.Sc Medical semester 2   and Inderpreetbagged first, second and third position. In folk song competition, Kusam B.A part 3, Harjot and Gunwant ,+1 secured first, second and third position respectively. In the Punjabi matrubhasha Melaorganized by Punjabi Sahitya Academy Ludhiana related to mother language, college student Manmeet got third position in the calligraphy competition. Prizes and certificates were given to the winning students. Speaking on the occasion, Madam Principal explained the importance of mother tongue. She also added that a person learns mother tongue from birth and we should respect it. She congratulated the concerned departments for the successful organization of the event.
