KNCW gets BAJMC degree
Adding another feather in its proud cap, Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara has been granted Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC) by Guru Nanak Dev University. This college has earned the honour of becoming the only college in Kapurthala district which has been sanctioned this course. Sharing this proud achievement, Principal of the College Dr. Kiran Walia thanked GNDU for sanctioning this course. She said that this three year professional degree course is meant for those students who wish to make a career in the field of media or wish to pursue higher education in the field. “Media is a growing industry and has huge potential. The students who pursue this degree have a number of career options which they can pursue after its completion,” she said. “The students, who have completed their 12 in any stream, are eligible for the admission to this course. After this course, the students can get placed in various industries related to media, like Newspaper, Radio, Television, Films, Advertising, Public Relations, etc. Students can become Reporters, Editor, Anchor, News Reader, Radio Jockey, Script Writers, Ad Film Makers, Ad copy writers, Public Relations Officers in Government or Private Sector, Photographer, Voice Over Artist, Stage anchor, Event Manager, Camera person, Video Editor, Teacher, etc. Plus, this course is especially helpful for the students who wish to go abroad and make a career,” the principal added. It may be mentioned that the college is already running B. Voc. Degree course in Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) and offers Journalism and Mass Communication as a subject in BA. The JMC department of the college has state of the art audio video studios which are well equipped with latest equipments and technology for the practical work of the students of the field. The principal further added that the admission for this course has started and the students who wish to make a career in the field of media can join this course.
