KNCW students conduct survey on expectations from Congress government March 8, 2017 With the change in political reins in the state, the students of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Kamla Nehru College for women, Phagwara conducted a survey in the college premises on Tuesday to ask the students and staff members about their expectations from the Congress government in the state led by Captain Amrinder Singh. Presenting her views, College Principal Dr. Kiran Walia appreciated the moves taken by the government
so far, be it the decision to do away with Red Beacons or the efforts to nab drug peddlers. She said that
if the government continues functioning on the same lines, it will set a new example of growth for the
state in coming years.The staff members of various departments, including Dr. Anita Gogna, Dr. Asha Sharma, Dr. Preet Arora and Ms. Navneet Kaur were of the view that since Congress was not able to grab majority in other
states, Punjab would be a priority for them. The further added that problems like Drug abuse, welfare of
farmers, Unemployment and Education should be a priority for the government.

On similar lines, the students were of the view that the government should lay priority on issues of creating employment opportunities, eradicating drug problems and creating infrastructure. They also added that for them the priority from the government would be making Punjab drug free and ensuring safety of women.
