Lecture on “Biodiversity Conservation” held at KNCW
An extension lecture on Biodiversity Conservation, potted plant competition and tree plantation drive were organized by the department of Sciences Kamla Nehru College for Women Phagwara. Professor Jagbir Singh Kirti from Department of Zoology and Environmental Sciences, Punjabi University Patiala was the guest on the occasion. Prof. Jagbir enlightened the students with the importance of biodiversity on earth and its day to day depletion by modern human activities. He also talked about various methods to conserve the diversity of flora and fauna.
Later he also judged the potted plants competition and participated in tree plantation drive by planting trees at the college Botanical garden. Sonali Verma from B.Sc. Medical third year stood first, Neha Taneja from B.Sc. Medical 2 nd year stood second and Ishita Sharma B.Sc. Medical 1 st year remained third in the potted plant competition. Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Walia welcomed the guest and congratulated the department for the event. Earlier, Anu, a student of B.Sc. Non Medical 2 nd Semester made it to merit position during the results declared by Guru Nanak Dev University by securing 79.25% marks.
