The Department of Home Science organized a visit for students enrolled in the Diploma in Nanny Care and Nutrition to the Government Primary Smart School in Chakk Hakim, focusing on the growth monitoring of preschoolers. The objective of this visit was to record the anthropometric measurements of the children. This hands-on experience allowed the students to measure the height and weight of preschoolers directly. In conjunction with National Nutrition Month, the Department of Home Science and the EBSB Club also celebrated Yoga Day. Dr. Priyanka Aeri delivered an informative presentation on the significance of nutrition and its overall impact on health, as well as the benefits of yoga for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This initiative aimed to promote holistic well-being and raise awareness among students about the importance of a nutrient-rich diet. A total of 23 students actively participated in the competition, gaining valuable insights into the significance of a nutritious diet, with winners receiving certificates for their efforts.Additionally, an online lecture by Dr. Satinder Kaur, counselor, founder, and director of the Satinder Therapy Center in Mohali, provided an overview of anemia during adolescence. She offered insightful dietary recommendations to help prevent anemia, enriching the knowledge of around 25 students who attended the lecture.A thought-provoking event also featured a short play titled “Nutritious Diet to Avoid Anemia.” Approximately 700 students attended this performance, in which students from the Diploma in Nanny Care and Nutrition effectively highlighted the importance of iron-rich diets in preventing anemia through their “Nukkar Natak.” The performance successfully encouraged the audience to prioritize nutritional intake for both a healthy body and mind.
