Established in 1965, Kamla Nehru College is a premier multifaculty education institution catering to the educational needs of female students of Phagwara and its peripheral areas. It gives me an immense pleasure to be a part of this esteemed and prestigious institution, having a NAAC A++ grade. The top priority of the college is to provide an inclusive platform to women by imparting quality education with a special focus on skill development, so that no woman is devoid of fruitful education and employment. The Indian System of Education is slightly different from that of the other countries, but, with the implementation of new policies of education and a
special focus on skill development and vocational education, it is evolving. Our college also believes in evolving as per the advancements in education technology. The courses run under the Community College Scheme of the UGC are an advantage for the inbound students. The college offers a vast range courses catering to the diverse needs of women. like PGDCA, PGD in Garment Construction and Fashion Designing,B Voc. In Beauty and Wellness and Banking Services, Accounting and Finance among others. The overall range of courses and the college ambience provides an environment for holistic development and growth of female students. We as educationists are invigorated by the sheen energy that surrounds us. I have been in a long association with the education sector, and the relation with young blood has always kept me motivated to dedicate something fruitful to the field of women’s education. From this vantage point, we feel pride in saying that many generations entered the threshold of this institution, filled its classrooms, performed in its auditorium, played on its fields and then excelled in their careers to mark their prestigious place in this world. These female students are our strength and also the validation of our existence. The college prioritizes the concept of women empowerment through effective education by bringing in new courses that will help the women promote gender equity by excelling in their lives. We always work symbiotically to create a healthy environment in the college by maintaining good peer-interactions, student – faculty relationships and intra-faculty relationships along with a healthy physical environment. For that, we ensure that a clean and green ambience is created by pledging our commitment to the environment. My message for the students of this college is based on a quote from Lord Alfred Tennyson’s poem Ulysses which says, “to strive, to seek and never to yield.” The women must strive to mark their place as the strong and indispensable part of the society and should seek
knowledge to reach new horizons. Above all in this time of pandemic they should never yield before tough circumstances and should practice perseverance, resilience and patience with utmost fortitude. Each woman must play her part to create a symbiotic atmosphere in the society in which hope never dies.
