“Re-visit the Martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre” on April 15, 2024
In collaboration with IQAC, Bhagat Singh Society and the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Club invited
attendees to “Re-visit the Martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre” on April 15, 2024. The
event opened with an enlightening introductory lecture by Ms. Kamlesh, Assistant Professor of
History, delving into the tragic events of April 13, 1919, during the British Raj in India on the
auspicious occasion of Baisakhi Day. The chilling account of Brigadier General Reginald Dyer’s
unleashing of around 1650 bullets upon the innocent souls gathered in Jallianwala Bagh served
as a stark reminder of the sacrifices made for India’s freedom.
The atmosphere was further enriched by the heartfelt recitation of a moving poem by Ms.
Preeti, a student of B.A. Sem IV, paying homage to the brave Martyrs who laid down their lives
for the nation. The event witnessed a vibrant participation of 50 enthusiastic students, eager to
learn and honor the legacy of our freedom fighters.
Dr. Savinder Pal, the esteemed Principal, graced the gathering with her profound insights into
the historical struggle against the oppressive British Rule. Shedding light on the infamous
Rowlatt Act, the draconian Section 44, and the harrowing depiction of Andaman Nicobar island
as the dreaded Kala Pani Tapu for imprisonment, she emphasized the importance of
remembering the sacrifices of our valiant freedom fighters. Expressing her heartfelt gratitude to
the organizing committee, Dr. Savinder Pal urged everyone present to cherish and uphold the
spirit of freedom that was fought for with unwavering courage and determination.
