Seminar on Career Opportunities in Journalism organized at KNCW
With the aim of helping a student decide what career to pursue, a seminar on ‘Career Opportunities in Journalism’ was organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara. Mr. Amit Sharma, Resident Editor, Dainik Jagran, Jalandhar, Mr. Karamveer Sandhu Commercial Photographer and Mr. Young Veer Singh, Radio Jockey BIG FM were the resource persons at the seminar. Sharing their expertise with the students, the resource persons shared the intricacies of their fields with the budding journalists. Highlighting the role of an editor, Mr. Amit Sharma shared that the job of an editor in the newspaper is to give it direction and help create its unique identity. Giving examples from his career, he motivated the students to make sure that they stick to their ethics when they go out to work in their field. Delivering a highly interactive lecture, Mr. Karamveer Sandhu shared the technical details of photography and motivated the students to develop the habit of observing things around them and looking out for good photographs. He shared his work with the students and also answered their queries.
Being his witty self, RJ Young Veer Singh shared his journey of becoming a Radio Jockey with the students. He talked about the problems he had to encounter and inspired the students to invest dedication and hard work in order to excel in life. Principal of the college, Dr. Kiran Walia welcomed the guest and thanked them for sharing their experience with the students. Faculty members Ms. Archna Walia, Ms. Ranjna Thakur, Ms. Navneet Pal Kaur and students of the department were present on the occasion.
