Talent hunt held at KNCW
The talent of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara made its presence felt at the talent hunt organized by the Department of Music as part of the Independence Day Celebrations on Saturday. The students of various departments of the college displayed their talent in the items of Music,Dance and Theatre. The event was organized to look out for students who could represent the college in the upcoming Youth Festival. The judges for the event were S. Harnam Singh, Ms. Prabhjot, Mr. Inderjit and Mr. Yashpal Kashyap.
The winners of the event were: Western Song: Pallavi remained first Tanvi second and Nitika and Nikita remained third Theatre items: Veerpal Kaur remained first, Nancy second, Shefali and Supriya third while Anchal got consolation prize.Folk Dance Solo: Sakshi and Jaswinder remained first, Supriya and Tanvi second while Shivani and Nazia remained third. Folk Song Group: Anchal and Kiranjit remained first, Parminder and Priya remained second while Simranjit and Ranjana remained third.
Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Walia, Dr. Anita Gogna, Ms. Jyoti Sachdeva, Reema Madan Joshi and Dr. Sudhamani Sood gave away prizes to the winners. Earlier, as part of Independence Day celebrations, a poster making competition was organized by the Fine Arts department of the college in which Manisha Kumari Thapar of BA 1 sem remained first, Baldish Kaur remained second and Gurpreet Kaur of BA 2 year remained third. Neha of +1 and Amandeep Kaur of +2 got consolation prizes. Similarly, the students of the department of History visited Apahaj Ashram and celebrated Independence Day with the inmates.
