Department of Botany, Kamla Nehru College For Women, Phagwara organized a webinar on the topic “Environmental Mutagens: Consequences and Remediation” in collaboration with IQAC on May 29, 2021. Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Botanical and Environmental  Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar acted as the resource person. Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal formally welcomed the keynote speaker and Dr. Vanita Chahal introduced her. Dr. Jatinder provided detailed knowledge about environment  giving  information about changes coming in the environment and the effects they are having. She said polluted environment  is  the cause of these changes whose terrible effects are visible nowadays. Heat, radiation, virus, bacteria etc. are giving it a more formidable shape which is increasing the risk of diseases like cancer Further, she explained about its precautions and treatment, that we need to use environment friendly goods, organic agriculture, ban on throwing garbage in open, strictly follow the laws related to environmental protection.

Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal expressed her gratitude to Dr. Jatinder Kaur for elaboration of the topic in such an interesting way and said that this environmental protection related information is very beneficial. She congratulated the organizers of webinar Dr. Vanita Chahal, Ms. Priyanka and Science Department  and motivated them for organizing such webinars in future also. In the end, Dr. Vanita Chahal thanked Dr. Savinder Pal, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Dr. Avinash Nagpal and more than 100 participants including professor of various colleges and students of Science Department.
