A Visit to Guru Nanak Vridh Ashram, Virka Village, Phagwara to celebrate “Yeh Diwali My Bharat Wali”
Under the able guidance of College Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, the NSS Unit of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara organised one day camp in which madam Principal along with programme officer, Ms. Nidhi Jassal and NSS volunteers visited Guru Nanak Old-Age Home, Virka Village on 29th October, 2024 to celebrate “Diwali with My Bharat- Yeh Diwali My Bharat Wali”. Madam Ranjit Kaur, Founder Chairman, Guru Nanak Vridha Ashram, Madam Pooja, Manager ,Guru Nanak Vridha Ashram, Lucky Bhakhri, Member of Panch, Virka Village, Brighu Dutt (NGO Member) were also present in the visit. The program commenced with decoration by the students who displayed their creativity. Programs like Deepotsav and Seva Karya were organized in the Ashram to celebrate the festival of Deepawali as a social service and dedication towards the nation.
During the visit, Principal of the institution interacted with the members and other residents of the Vridh Ashram. Clothes, eatables and other essential itmes were distributed to the residents of the vridh Ashram. College Principal, Ms. Nidhi Jassal, Dr. Lalit kumar, Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Ms. Inderpreet along with NSS volunteers also celebrated Diwali in the college campus by lighting diyas.
At last, she appreciated the joint efforts of the program officers Madam Nidhi Jassal and Dr. Lalit Kumar for organizing this visit in future too.
