Basant Panchami Utsav at KNCW
Under the esteemed leadership of College Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, Home Science, Science and Music Departments of the KNCW celebrated the vibrant festival of Basant Panchami with great fervor and enthusiasm. The festivities commenced with a heartfelt Saraswati Puja, invoking blessings from the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom, followed by a soulful rendition of the shabad ‘Mauli Dharti Mauliya Aakash’ by Dr. Savinder Pal herself. During her address, she emphasized the significance of the Basant Panchami festival in connecting with our cultural heritage.
The celebration featured a variety of engaging activities, including a Kite and Umbrella Decoration Competition and a Kite Flying Competition. The winners of the decoration contests were Palakdeep Kaur from B.Sc Non-Medical Semester II, who excelled in Kite Decoration, and Manraj Kaur Malhi, also from B.Sc Non-Medical Semester II, who claimed victory in the Umbrella Decoration category. Anuradha emerged as the winner of the Kite Flying Competition, showcasing her skills and enthusiasm.
A highlight of the event was the Miss Basant competition, which drew considerable attention. Bismanpreet Kaur was crowned Miss Basant 2025, with Sukirti Sharma and Muskan Verma securing the titles of first and second runners-up, respectively. Approximately 50 students participated in these competitions, reflecting the vibrant spirit of the college community.
Following the formal program, all faculty and staff members, both teaching and non-teaching, gathered for a delightful potluck party, celebrating the occasion with camaraderie and joy. In her closing remarks, Principal Dr. Savinder Pal expressed that such celebrations play a vital role in helping students connect with and appreciate the rich cultural roots and traditions of India.
