KNCW celebrated ‘Dheeyan Di Lohri.’
Under the able guidance of the College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal, the PG Department of Commerce and the
Science Department of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, came together to celebrate the vibrant festival of Lohri under the theme “Dheeyan Di Lohri” with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour.
The festivities commenced with a traditional Lohri puja by lighting a bonfire led by the esteemed Principal,
Dr. Savinder Pal, to kick off the event. Students and faculty members ceremoniously offered groundnut, til,
and rewri to the God of fire. In her address to the students, College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal spoke about the significance of Lohri, emphasising its cultural importance and the values it represents. She extended her heartfelt blessings to the students, encouraging them to cherish and uphold their rich heritage.
The celebration was marked by the melodious recitation of Lohri songs by the students, followed by lively
dance performances that added joy and energy to the event. Faculty members of the college, along with the
entire staff, actively participated, showcasing their unity and enthusiasm in celebrating this traditional
festival. Madam Principal wished everyone a happy Lohri and emphasised the importance of keeping culture alive by celebrating such kinds of festivals.
Concluding the event, a special tea party was organised for the staff members, providing a warm and joyous
end to the celebrations. The function ended on a high note with the distribution of rewri and groundnuts to everyone by the college principal.
