KNCW celebrates Independence day with motivational lecture on NCC
To commemorate the 71st Independence Day and instill the feeling of patriotism among the students, a motivational lecture was organized for the students of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara. Col. Kulwant Singh of 8PBN Battalion, Phagwara was the resource person on the occasion. He gave a detailed account about NCC and motivated the students to join the institution. On the occasion, Col. Singh talked at length about NCC as an institute, its motives, objectives and the importance that it has in the lives of students. He motivated the students to join NCC and serve the country and added that it also helps students who wish to join armed forces.Sharing his life experiences with the students, Col. Singh told them about his experiences of participating in wars. He talked about the grace and pride of the uniform and motivated the students to be responsible citizens of the country and contribute productively in Nation’s progress. Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Walia welcomed Col. Singh and thanked him for sharing his wonderful experiences with the students. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Walia exhorted that like many countries, serving in the armed forces should be made mandatory for every citizen of the country since it helps instill patriotism and discipline.The students of various departments of the colleges and NCC incharges Dr. Kanwaljit Singh and Ms. Jaideep Inder Kaur were present on the occasion. On the occasion, a poster making competition was organized by the Department of Fine Arts of the college in which Manisha Kumari Thapa stood first, Amandeep Kaur stood second while Harnam Jaswal stood third while Monika and Ritika got consolation prizes.
