Under the able guidance of College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal, Home Science Association, EBSB Club, and NSS Unit of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, celebrated National Girl Child Day on 24 January 2025. On this occasion, Ms. Vaishali, a faculty member from the Diploma in Nanny Care and Nutrition program, delivered an insightful lecture on government schemes available for the welfare of the girl child. Her session covered various initiatives that aim to uplift and support girls at different stages of their lives, offering them better opportunities for education, health, and empowerment. A  declamation competition on women health was also organised. In this competition Ms Priyanka, Ms Himanshi Sharma, Ms Saloni and  Ms Vatsvikta from the B.Com( 6th sem) and Ms Shivani Pandey of B.A (6th sem), participated enthusiastically. Vice principal,Dr. Ruminder Kaur, addressed the students and awared them about the importance of empowering the girl child and eliminating gender bias in society. She also appreciated the efforts put in by the organizing committee.During the program, Vice Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur Johal, Dr. Priyanka Aeri (Nodal officer of EBSB), Ms. Nidhi Jassal ( Programme officer NSS unit) and Astt. Prof. Vaishali ( Nanny care and Nutrition) were present along with approximately 70 students of the College.
