NSS UNIT and NCC Wing Celebrate ‘ WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY’
Under the guidance of Honourable College Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, NSS Unit and NCC Wing of Kamla Nehru College for Women Celebrated “World Environment Day” under Mission Life Programme from May 30 to June 5,2023 by conducting various activities. Trees were planted in the college for this purpose. Poster Making and Essay competitions were organised on the theme ‘Save Environment ‘. An awareness rally was carried out in the college campus. An extension lecture was also organised to mark the celebration where in College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal was the keynote speaker. During her lecture, She enlightened the students about the importance of trees and motivated them not only to plant umpteen trees but also nuture them. Further, she inspired the students to shun the use of plastic in the college campus as well as in surrounding areas and utilise the kitchen waste to make compost to be used in gardens. A pledge was taken by the students to save the environment . She also gave the message to the students to contribute their part in protecting the nature by performing sustainable practices on daily basis. Students also planted trees at their homes and nearby areas. About 80 students participated in this event. Principal Dr. Savinder Pal appreciated the joint efforts of Dr. Lalit Kumar and Ms Nidhi Jassal, NSS Programme officers and Dr. Palwinder ,NCC-CTO for organising this event.
