Sixth day of NSS Camp

The sixth day of the 7-day NSS Camp, i.e., 17th December, 2024, commenced with the worshipping of the God. On this occasion, a special lecture on the topic ‘Relationship of Indian classical music with health’ was delivered by Prof. Rampal Banga, Head, Deptt. of Music, Guru Nanak National College, Doraha. He talked at length about how music provides a total brain workout, as listening to music can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory. On the sixth day of the camp, volunteers completed the wall paintings on the themes ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ outside the college. In the evening, another lecture on the topic ‘Environmental Awareness’ by Mr. Malkiat Singh Ragbotra, Secretary of the Environment Association, Phagwara, and former Nagar Council President. He enlightened the volunteers about the importance of trees as they help combat climate change and support biodiversity. He also talked about the harmful effects of plastic on our planet, as it is also linked to respiratory diseases such as asthma and cardiovascular diseases, and promoted the usage of environment friendly products. College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal, appreciated the efforts put in by NSS volunteers and NSS Programme Officers, Ms. Nidhi Jassal and Dr. Lalit Kumar.
